Brief

Trojan Bites is a redesign of the USC mobile ordering app, created to improve the connection between the app interface and the real-world campus dining experience.
The current system causes frustration because students expect fast and efficient pickup, but often encounter confusing navigation, missing information, inaccurate wait times, limited payment options, and lack of scheduled ordering.

Trojan Bites responds with a clearer, more visual, and more action-oriented ordering flow designed around speed, confidence, and campus life.

Problems

The USC Mobile Ordering system lacks cohesion between its digital interface and physical dining operations, resulting in inefficiency and user frustration. Students rely on the app in hopes of quick and efficient meal pick up but instead are met with inconsistency and confusion.
        Problem with current solution:
  • Disorganized Interface
  • Inconvenient Payment Methods
  • Scheduled Orders not supported
  • No EWT
  • No Dining Map
  • Difficult Navigation

Design Opportunity

The opportunity is to redesign mobile ordering as a campus navigation and time-management tool, not just a menu interface.

USC users are often moving between classes, meetings, work shifts, and activities. In that context, food ordering is not a leisurely browsing moment.
It is a tiny logistics puzzle: Where can I get food fast? What is open? How long will it take? Can I pick it up later? Is this meal right for me?

Trojan Bites turns the app into a more reliable decision system for campus dining.
