About Me

Viniverse is a mixed reality vinyl experience that turns physical records into immersive album worlds users can enter, explore, and share.

Brief

Viniverse reimagines vinyl listening as an immersive mixed reality experience.

Users can scan or select a vinyl record, place it onto a virtual player, and enter a custom environment inspired by that album’s sound, mood, genre, and visual identity.

Instead of only hearing music, users experience it as a spatial world.

The project combines the tactile nostalgia of vinyl with the portability, interaction, and social potential of mixed reality.

Problem & Opportunity Statement

Music listening today is split between two experiences:

Physical vinyl feels tangible, nostalgic, and emotionally meaningful, but it is not portable or interactive.
Streaming platforms are convenient, portable, and social, but they often flatten music into thumbnails, playlists, and passive listening.

Viniverse asks:

How might we preserve the emotional ritual of vinyl while expanding it into an immersive, interactive, and shareable music experience?

UI Flow Design

Core Experience

The user journey follows a simple ritual:
  1. Scan the physical environment
  2. Select or scan a vinyl record
  3. Place the vinyl onto a virtual player
  4. Enter the album’s corresponding mixed reality scene
  5. Explore the music world while listening
  6. Exit and return to the vinyl selector
Each album becomes its own universe.
For example, shows a cinematic magical world for Harry Potter Film Music Collection and a blue atmospheric environment for Never Enough by Daniel Caesar. This shows how Viniverse can translate different albums into distinct spatial moods.

Album-Based Mixed Reality Worlds
Each vinyl unlocks a custom environment shaped by the album’s music, visual identity, and emotional tone.
Vinyl Scanning + Digital Selector
Users can scan their own records or explore a digital vinyl collection.
Spatial Audio + Visual Stimulation
Music is enhanced through spatial sound, lighting, color, movement, and environmental changes.
Co-Listening
Viniverse is not designed as another streaming platform. It becomes a shared space where users can listen together inside the same album world.
Inclusive Sensory Experience
The project can translate music into visual and haptic stimulation, allowing deaf or hard-of-hearing users to experience rhythm, mood, and intensity through vibration, lighting, and color.
